How the Calculation Works

The calculator uses a simple three-step scaling method. First, it applies your white-fat share to the label's total fat to get the white fat in a 100g reference portion:

Then it scales that result to your actual portion:

Worked Examples

Example 1 — 80/20 ground beef, 150g portion: Total fat is 20g per 100g and you estimate 35% of it is white/separable fat. White fat per 100g = 20 × 0.35 = 7g. In a 150g portion, white fat = 7 × 1.5 = 10.5g. Calories from white fat = 10.5 × 9 = 94.5 kcal. The remaining 12.5g of fat in the portion is intramuscular fat and other lipids.
