This calculator uses the standard nutrition-label density method. Most packaged bars list their calcium content as milligrams (mg) per 100 grams (g). To find calcium per bar, multiply that density by the bar's weight and divide by 100:
Calcium per bar = (calcium per 100 g × bar weight in g) ÷ 100
Then multiply by the number of bars you plan to eat to get the total, and divide by your daily target to get the percentage of Daily Value. Because a 45 g bar has less than half the calcium of a 100 g portion at the same density, weight matters just as much as ingredient quality.
Worked example: A protein bar label says 210 mg calcium per 100 g. The bar weighs 60 g. Calcium per bar = 210 × 60 ÷ 100 = 126 mg. Two bars = 252 mg. Against a 1300 mg Daily Value, that's 252 ÷ 1300 × 100 ≈ 19.4% — a meaningful contribution to the day's calcium.
